A Google User I rented a kayak from Blackwater Canoe, just outside the park. The river is a very nice river for beginners, with the occasional snag to cause problems. The average time to complete the full day trip through the park is 4-5 hours. I took about 3 because I was seeking exercise as well as a time to be outdoors. Birding is OK there, but the real fun is the actual paddling and enjoying the tree-lined banks, and the sand bars to take breaks on.
